Commission Communication on the Strategy for Africa
The Commission published its proposal for the European Union’s new Strategy for Africa (EU Strategy for Africa: Towards a Euro-African pact to accelerate Africa’s development) on 12 October 2005.
The Commission published its proposal for the European Union’s new Strategy for Africa (EU Strategy for Africa: Towards a Euro-African pact to accelerate Africa’s development) on 12 October 2005. The strategy’s objective is achieving the UN Millennium Development Goals and the prerequisites for sustainable development, such as peace and security, trade and good governance and infrastructure, are emphasized in the strategy. The Commission proposes also increasing the amount of development aid to Africa from 17 billion euro to 25 billion euro by 2010.
