Development Education Conference Opens KEHYS' Presidency Project
KEHYS organizes the 2-day conference in cooperation with CONCORD, Finnish Ministry for Foreign Affairs and European Commission on 3-4 July in Helsinki. The conference, held in Congress Center Paasitorni, focuses on European development education.
Development Education Conference is a part of KEHYS' Presidency Project and it is a follow-up to a conference organized in Belgium in May 2005.
In Helsinki the focus is on:
-European Development Education Strategy
-evaluation on how the recommendations of the Belgian meeting have been taken into account and how to further enforce their implementation (incl. quality, effectiveness and impact)
-special attention to the New Member States and those engaged in the accession process to develop and implement effective development education
The participants represent the Ministries for Foreign Affairs, European Commission, the European Parliament, the European Economic and Social Committee, the Committee of the Regions and the Council of European Municipalities and Regions. The members of the Development Education Forum and related networks that form part of CONCORD, the European NGO Confederation for Relief and Development, are also participating as well as national parliamentarians and experts from various international organizations and research institutes.
