Vammaisten naisten voimaannuttaminen Tadžikistanissa

Discussion about disability questions in Central Asia on the basis of a case example from Tajikistan.

In developing countries women with disabilities have very few opportunities to participate in society due to the negative attitudes against both their gender and their disability. In Central Asia women with disabilities have formed a network to promote the rights of women with disabilities.

Sitora Qurbanova, disability activist from Tajikistan and ETVO Southern volunteer, will talk about the challenges women with disabilities face in her country, share some success stories and describe the work of the disabled women’s movement in Tajikistan to empower women with disabilities.

This event will provide an opportunity to learn first-hand knowledge about the situation of women with disabilities in Central Asia. The morning event will start with a brief introduction to Threshold Association disability development cooperation in Central Asia and Sitora’s presentation will be followed by a facilitated questions and answers session.
