Commission Report on Public Consultation on the NSA Programme

The European Commission has published a public consultation report on the future thematic programme "Support to nonstate actors and local authorities in development"

The Commission's report focuses on the public consultation organized last spring on the future thematic programme "Support to nonstate actors and local authorities in development" in the context of the Financial perspectives 2007–2013.

The NGOs answer to the NSA programme is presented in the CONCORD’s vision for the European Commission’s Partnership with Civil Society Organisations. The paper's purpose is to set out where European development NGOs see civil society relations with the EC going, both within Europe and in developing countries and how a future Civil Society Organisation (CSO) thematic programme could contribute to that bigger vision.

According to the Secretary General of KEHYS, Rilli Lappalainen, the Commission consultation did not allow the NGOs express their views from a broader perspective. CONCORDs paper on the other hand tries to show how NGOs can work more widely than the NSA programme suggests.
