Commitment to Development Index of the Centre for Global Development
Poverty eradication is not just about giving money: CDI ranks the richest nations on their commitment in development cooperation in different fields, including the level and quality of development aid, environmental and security policy, openness towards the importation of the development countries, investment and migration policies and supporting of new technologies and research. Among 21 countries, Finland ranks 7th overall in 2005 but on migration policy Finland ranks only before Greece, Japan and Portugal.

What factors govern growth and sustainability? The remarkable recent development of several East Asian countries had brought this question to the fore. This volume looks at the impact of OECD country policies on the region in a variety of areas, including trade, investment, environment, agriculture, finance and aid. It examines the coherence lessons of these OECD country policies in the light of future challenges in East Asia and other developing regions. Lastly, it contributes answers to the world-wide quest for ways to reduce poverty and promote growth with equity.

The joint project of the Dutch Evert Vermeer -Research Institute and CONCORD, the umbrella organisation of KEHYS, on policy coherence. At the moment, the web page includes case studies in the field of fishing, arms trade, agriculture and health. The project was launched at the end of February.
European Development Cooperation to 2010 (EDC2010)
Over 15 research institutes are involved in the EDC2010 programme which is subordinate to EADI (European Association of Development Research and Training Institute). It is possible to explore the reports and publications of the research institutes on the web site of the program.

Strategy Paper “Towards a Migration for Development Strategy” Prepared by Swedish Ministry for Foreign Affairs
The strategy paper “Towards a Migration for Development Strategy”, which the Swedish Ministry for Foreign Affairs contracted out to an outside consultant, was completed on January 2006. The report pinpoints the analytical connections between migration and development and gives recommendations to practical processes. The report is composed of five themes: shared interests of migration and development, remittances sent by immigrants, the role of the immigrant society, coherent politics and work-related migration. A copy of the report can be ordered by e-mail from the secretariat of KEHYS.
