Make Poverty History at Helsinki International Film Festival
The Make Poverty History campaign and the white bands are present at 19th Helsinki International Film Festival.
The Make Poverty History campaign continues during the Finnish EU-presidency this autumn. In Finland you can check out the Click campaign video at the Helsinki International Film Festival. The festival, organized for the 19th time, shows films from almost 30 different countries. The new Click 2006 video can be seen on the festival’s outdoor screen on 11.9-23.9.
The White Band, which gained enormous international publicity in 2005, will continue to be the symbol of the campaign. The bands can also be seen on the wrists of the personnel and volunteers of the festival. Please check out for instructions on how to get your own white band.
17.10.2006 has been chosen as the White Band Day. The day is also the International Day for Poverty Eradication, declared by the UN General Assembly. During autumn, several events will be organized around the world.
In Finland, the campaign will be visible at KEHYS’ (The Finnish NDGO Platform to the EU) international Call for Coherence conference on 2-3.10, which will gather over 200 development policy experts in Helsinki. The campaign in Finland is coordinated by the Finnish UN Association and KEHYS.
